Our Fabrics and Materials : Wood

Wood: a sensitive material

Travel and cultural influences are at the heart of Caroline's creative process. Brazil, with which she has a precious bond, is a recurring leitmotif of our collections. The wood chosen for our handbags and accessories is an ode to Jacaranda, an exotic Brazilian wood that is now protected. A precious species that evokes for Caroline the design furniture of Oscar Niemeyer and Jorge Zalszupin, for whom she has a special affection. Wood, like a talisman, has thus become, over the years and through the collections, a signature of the house. It delicately dresses our creations and gives them a natural sensitivity and sensuality. A living material that gives a real soul to the models.

An age-old and noble material

As we always have elegance at heart, we prefer noble woods for our creations.Mahogany and walnut are strong woods with a natural look and feel. They are also dark woods that are similar to Jacaranda. These woods are worked and assembled to create unique designs. The wood is combined with Italian leather, forming an elegant contrast between the animal and the vegetable: a reminder of the link between Brazil and Italy, which has cradled Caroline.

Wood as an art of detail and finishing

An ode to nature, wood replaces the classic metal clasp and metal finishes. Our creations echo nature, life and movement. Wood perfects and sublimates our models, the final touch that gives the product its soul and its unique character. More than a simple finish, this noble material is integrated into the design of the models. Our wooden clasps are the signature of our iconic Reka and Beka bags, giving them a raw but extremely refined look. For our minimalist Joy clutch bag, wood is both clasp and frame, which, in harmonious contrast to the smooth leather of the bag, gives the model its personality. Wood is also used for the legs of our Beka handbag, a small modern box inspired by the traditional satchel. For our Lori bag, the brand's signature is delicately engraved on a thin wooden plate.A material dear to our designer, a dedicated collection has been created around wood: the African masks designed by Caroline are key elements of the Namibian collection. They adorn our Joy or Mame clutches and decorate our Ludo leather and raffia backpack. They are also the originality of our Kira key ring or our Nora glasses cases.

Our wooden creations are the result of a unique know-how. The wooden parts have been developed specifically for each model, such as the handle loops of the Beka or the clasp of the Joy in bent wood. The latter has been steamed to give it its characteristic shape. This woodworking also reflects the brand's desire to support an age-old art craft that is tending to disappear.
